FAQs

how do i get my knives sharpened?

1

Text a picture of your knives and then I can give you a ballpark quote. I can come to you and pick up your knives. While I’m there, I can give you a more accurate quote once I have them in hand. I’ll take them home, sharpen, repair as needed, clean up the handles and buff the blade. I will finish with some disinfection so it’s clean of any metal particles. Then, I will wrap them and return to you all within 24 hours.

what equipment do you use?

2

I use metalworking sanding belts, scotchbrite wheels and cotton wheels to buff and shine and a leather stropping wheel to finish the edge. I sharpen serrated knives with a 200 grit diamond wheel and reduce the burr several times before finishing.

What makes you different?

3

I use precise angles, typically 17 degrees since that gives you a very sharp edge with some durability. Axes, hatchets, cleavers and some machetes I will sharpen at 25 degrees. I also do a lot of repair work and clean up work on your blades and handles usually without extra cost unless there is significant damage or corrosion.
